The Smart Tree from Another Planet

My name is Emma, and I am eight years old. I live in a small town with a big park in the middle. The park has green grass, tall trees, birds, and a small pond. I love this park more than any other place. I come here after school to play, read books, and watch ants carry tiny leaves.

One night, something very strange happened.

I was sitting near my window, looking at the stars, when I saw a bright light in the sky. It was not a star. It was bigger and glowing green and blue. The light moved fast and then slowly came down behind the park.

“Boom,” came a soft sound. The ground did not shake, but the air felt warm.

The next morning, I ran to the park with my friends. Everyone was talking at once.

“Did you see the light?”

“Something fell from the sky!”

“Look over there!”

In the middle of the park, there was something new. It was a tree. But it was not like any tree I had ever seen.

The tree was tall and shiny. Its leaves glowed softly like tiny stars. The trunk had gentle lines that looked like light flowing inside. The ground around it was warm and clean.

We stood quietly. Then the tree spoke.

“Hello, children,” it said in a calm and kind voice.

We gasped.

“My name is Lumi,” the tree said. “I come from another planet.”

My heart beat fast, but I was not scared. Lumi’s voice felt safe, like a soft wind.

“Why are you here?” I asked slowly.

“I came to learn,” Lumi replied. “And to teach.”

Every day after school, we visited Lumi. Lumi taught us many things. Lumi showed us how trees clean the air. “When you breathe out,” Lumi said, “trees breathe in. We help each other.”

Lumi showed us how roots drink water from the soil. Lumi showed us how sunlight helps leaves make food. Lumi called it science, but it felt like magic. We learned that science and nature are friends.

Soon, more children came. Teachers came. Parents came. Everyone listened to Lumi. But not everyone was kind. Some people threw trash near the park. Plastic bottles rolled near Lumi’s roots. Smoke from cars filled the air.

Lumi’s glow became weaker.

“Lumi,” I said one afternoon, “you don’t look well.”

“I feel tired,” Lumi said softly. “When Earth is hurt, I feel it too.”

That night, I could not sleep. I kept thinking. The next day, I spoke to my friends. “We have to help Lumi,” I said.

We made a plan. We cleaned the park. We picked up trash. We sorted waste. We planted small trees. Our teacher helped us learn how recycling works. Our parents helped us build bins. We used science to test clean water. We used teamwork to protect nature.

Slowly, Lumi began to glow again.

“Thank you, children,” Lumi said happily. “You are learning the most important lesson.”

“What lesson?” I asked.

“That science and nature are strongest together,” Lumi replied.

One evening, Lumi shined brighter than ever before. Fireflies danced around the leaves. The air felt fresh and cool.

“I will stay here,” Lumi said. “But only if you promise to care for this planet.”

“We promise,” we said together.

Now, every time I walk through the park, I look at Lumi. The tree still glows softly. Birds sing louder. The park feels alive.

I learned something very important. The Earth is our home. And even small children can protect it.
