At the edge of a golden wheat field, in a cozy little den under a berry bush, there lived a small red fox named Fina.

Fina had bright orange fur. She had a fluffy white tummy. And she had a big bushy tail that swept behind her like a soft brush.

Fina loved to watch the sky. She loved to sniff the wind. And most of all, she loved TWILIGHT — that special time when the day says goodnight and the night says hello.

Every evening, Fina would say, "Twilight! Twilight is the best!"

One evening, the sun slipped down behind the golden wheat. The sky turned soft peach. Then rosy pink. Then dreamy lavender.

Fina climbed to the top of her favorite little hill. She sat down on her fluffy tail. She looked up, up, up.

"Tonight," said Fina, "I will find the very FIRST star."

She waited. She watched.

The sky was still soft and glowing. No stars yet.

Fina wiggled her ears. She wagged her big bushy tail.

She waited. She watched.

The sky turned a deeper blue. Still no stars.

"Where are you, little first star?" whispered Fina.

She waited some more.

The sky turned dusty violet. A tiny bit darker.

Fina's paws bounced a little. She was getting impatient.

"Come out, little star! Come out!" she said.

But the sky just stayed soft and quiet.

Fina felt her ears droop. "Maybe there is no first star tonight," she said sadly.

Just then — TWINKLE!

A tiny bright light popped up in the sky. Small and silver and shining.

"OH!" gasped Fina. Her orange fur puffed up in excitement. "THERE YOU ARE!"

She had found the first star!

But then... something even more amazing happened.

The little star spoke.

"Hello, little fox," she said in a soft, silvery voice.

Fina's mouth made a tiny O. "You... you can talk?"

The first star giggled softly. Her name was Twee. "Only to those who wait for me. And you waited so patiently!"

Fina's tail wagged. "I looked for you for a long, long time."

"I know," said Twee kindly. "That's why I twinkle just for you tonight. Would you like to know a secret about the first star?"

"Yes please!" whispered Fina. Her ears wiggled up.

Twee twinkled brightly. "Every night, the first star gets to grant one soft little bedtime wish. And tonight — my wish is yours."

Fina's eyes went round like little moons.

"A wish? For me?"

"For you," said Twee. "Anything soft and sleepy that your heart wants."

Fina thought hard.

She thought about warm cuddles.

She thought about sweet dreams.

She thought about soft grass under her paws.

Then she smiled her biggest fox smile.

"I wish," said Fina softly, "for all the little animals and children around the world to have a happy, cozy bedtime."

Twee twinkled even brighter. "Oh, sweet Fina. What a beautiful wish."

"Will it come true?" asked Fina.

"Yes," said Twee. "Because the best wishes are the ones that share love with others. And your wish is already on its way."

One by one, more stars began to pop up in the sky. Twinkle, twinkle, twinkle.

Soon, the whole sky was full of soft silver light.

Fina curled up on her hill. She rested her chin on her fluffy tail. Her orange fur felt warm and cozy.

"Thank you, Twee," she whispered.

"Goodnight, little Fina," said Twee softly. "Sleep well, brave little fox."

Fina's bright eyes felt heavy, heavy, heavy.

She closed one eye. Then she closed the other.

Above her, the first star kept twinkling. Below her, the soft grass held her gently. All around her, the world felt safe and full of quiet love.

And soon, little Fina the Fox was fast, fast asleep with her wish flying up into every window and every burrow and every cozy bed around the whole wide world.

Sweet dreams, Fina. Sweet dreams, little fox.
